Meeting Advice

  • Firstly, you need to ask lots of questions and find out everything you can about your proposed holiday partner before meeting with them. Confirm and check their private contact information such as phone number and email address before meeting.
  • Lay out the rules before committing yourself to travelling with another member and make sure they are understood by both of you. Are you intending to book separate rooms or share? Are you hoping to spend all the time on holiday together or just meet up for certain aspects? Are you looking for strict friendship or a bit of romance. Any or all of these types of circumstance could be very embarrassing if the exact terms of the relationship are not clearly understood on both sides from the start.
  • When meeting someone for the first time, do so in a public place, such as a restaurant, cafe, bar or pub. Do not visit other members homes, even if you do get on well, until you really get to know them.
  • Before meeting, let at least one person close to you know exactly where you are going, who you are going to meet and what time you expect to be back. Give that person the contact details of who you are meeting.
  • Finally, use your common sense and enjoy the meeting—who knows where it will lead?
